New/old installation: Concerns of Relative Future Space 2001/2015

Way back in 1999 I had many (Art) experiences and I also had an idea, that idea forever changed my production of Fine Art and my relation to it. The work, Future Concerns of Relative Space 1999/2001 (for more info see older work) was a dramatic change in comparison to the work I had done before that.

I had many ideas to expand this work and to use the medium of mono-filament solely in my production. This idea became some what strange as my relation to "Future concerns..." changed. Though I made some small sketches, but nothing every seemed to hold my attention.

I decided to revisit the use of mono-filament and decided to make another drawing for a proposed installation, Concerns of Relative Future Space. I might make more, I have not decided yet. I plan to install this work sometime soon in my studio, though I may have to build some new walls to accomplish this.

Since this is a sort of gray area work: being new/old I decided to display it in color.

The Return/Pledge/Turn/Prestige/Enter: Completed 2009 - 2013

Below is documentation for the 2 completed works, Chen Lee Water Suspension - Prestige and Cut and Restore Rope - Enter, from the series of work, The Return/Pledge/Turn/Prestige/Enter, or for short "The Return/ ... /Enter" which was begun in 2009. Like I said many times before it stemmed out of the Parallel Panels body of work. For each of the 5 installations in the series, the requirements are: that all are squares (4 sides equal), there are 4 panels in each installation, there are 4 repeated elements inside each panel, all create a system which shifts, morphs, all are painted with oil paints or have them incorporated in some way, are on on different base medium (canvas, wood, linen, etc...), all transform in various ways in order to correspond to a panel or panels within each in the group, as well as other requirements. Each installation corresponds to each of the other installations and changes graphically and texturally, thus painterly throughout the entire series.

The title of the series is an analogy to the basic elements of all fine art experiences and it is an extension of the 3 basic segments of all magic performances: Pledge, Turn, and Prestige.

I created 2 of the installations in 2009, Substitution Trunk - Return,  Linking Rings - Pledge; I created Cups and Balls - Turn, this year, 2011; and I completed the series this year, 2013, with the final 2 installations: Chen Lee Water Suspension - Prestige and Cut and Restore Rope - Enter.

Parallel Panels, the limits of landmarks (3D) and maps (2D)

I have received a few questions about the intent and extent of the Parallel Panels series/body of work (and its history). I have created a linked list to answer these questions:

The middle area between concepts and percepts

Refusing the conservative tropes of minimalism, and/or conceptualism

The rhizome between landmarks and maps

Separate planes and separate experiences, gathered together

A hierarchy only created by our bodies and minds

There is no point of origin, only continuum

Березин революция [Berezin Revolution]...

From 2006-2008 my studio and work was somewhat dormant. I thought about Fine Art a great deal, I drew many drawings, but worked on and completed very few major installations. One such work from the parallel panels series, Березин революция [Berezin Revolution] (Made out with the red giant too) 2006-2009, the title of the work was inspired by the owners of the work and a mathematician/physicist of the same name, but not particularly this revolution.

When discussing the work, one of the owner's mentioned how the the parallel panels body of work relates to an Eruv, a ritual enclosure that allows observant people to carry objects on the Jewish Sabbath. I find that the concept of the Eruv also relates to my older work, Future Concerns of Relative Space 1999-2001, which is also much about the space and context that surrounds the work as well as what happens with the object itself (and what goes on inside the work).

The Return/ ... /Enter Series: clarifications, extensions, etc...

New studio work: Cups and Balls - Turn

Here are some photographic documented images of recently completed work, Cups and Balls - Turn (The Return/Pledge/Turn/Prestige/Enter series, #3 in a series of 5 separate installations; also part of the parallel panels -body of work/series). The images were taken today. The work is meant to be viewed in various light states and has no specific way of exact lighting (like most of my work). Included below is an image in dim light and in bright light to show this. Please let me know what you think.
